KeepClose Privacy Policy
Everything you add to KeepClose stays on your iPhone. That's not a policy position — it's how the app is built.
The short version
KeepClose stores the people you add, your intentions, and your logged interactions in a database on your device. Nothing is transmitted to AltoCode, and nothing is sent anywhere else either.
There are no network calls in the app at all — no server to talk to, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK, no account, and no sign-in. The only data that exists anywhere is the data you enter, on the phone in your hand.
What the app stores
Everything KeepClose stores lives in a local SwiftData database inside your iOS app sandbox — a private, device-local location that other apps cannot access. Specifically:
- People: names, relationship labels, and optional notes you enter.
- Photos: a photo you choose from your camera, your photo library, or a contact. Photos are downscaled and stored as image data in the local database; they never leave the device.
- Intentions and interactions: how often you want to be in touch with each person, and the calls, visits, video chats, and messages you log.
- Weekly checkpoints: the score snapshot saved each week so you can see the pattern over time.
iOS encrypts the app sandbox at rest using the device's hardware security. This encryption is automatic and controlled by iOS, not by KeepClose.
What leaves your device
Nothing. KeepClose makes no network requests of any kind — there is no networking code in the app at all, so there is no server it could send data to even if it wanted to.
Contacts
When you add a person, you can type a name or pick someone from your contacts using the system's contact picker. That picker runs in its own process and hands the app only the one contact you explicitly chose — a name and photo. KeepClose never requests access to your address book and never reads your contacts beyond the single entry you pick.
Notifications
Reminders and the weekly checkpoint notification are scheduled entirely on your device using Apple's local notification framework. There's no push server, and no device token is requested or sent anywhere. You can turn reminders, the weekly summary, and the checkpoint off independently in Settings.
No analytics, no diagnostics, no third-party SDKs
The app contains no analytics library, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, and no telemetry of any kind. AltoCode does not collect usage data, error logs, or diagnostic information from KeepClose — automatically or otherwise.
No accounts or sign-in
KeepClose has no accounts, no user profiles, and no sign-in. There is no identifier associated with you. AltoCode has no way to connect any data to any individual user, because no data reaches AltoCode at all.
How to delete your data
You have two options:
- Delete a person: remove any person, along with their interactions and pending reminders, from their detail screen in the app.
- Delete the app: removing KeepClose from your device deletes the entire app sandbox, including the database and everything in it. iOS does this automatically when you uninstall an app.
There is no remote copy to delete because no remote copy exists.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way — for example, if a future version of the app adds an optional sync feature — the updated policy will be posted here with a revised date. The core commitment (on-device storage, no data collection) will not change without prominent notice and an explicit opt-in from you.
